Youth & School Partnership Programs
Portland Public Schools
Through a partnership between METRO and Portland Public Schools (PPS), all students attending Casco Bay, Deering, and Portland high schools receive a METRO Student Transit Pass to use the METRO system for school transportation. The pass also provides transportation access to students after school, nights, weekends, and during school breaks. To obtain a TouchPass or mobile app under the new system, contact your school directly as they are handling the Metro pass program individually. Portland High School - Ann Marie Bryce; Deering High School - Krista Simonis; Casco Bay High School - Gloria Leberman.
10th to 12th Grade Students
Rising 10th to 12th grade students will be able to use the same TouchPass or mobile app used the previous school year. New students to the Portland Public School system in these grades should contact the school directly for direction.
9th Grade Students
New ninth grade students will receive information from the school on how to obtain a PPS TouchPass or mobile app for use as they prepare to enter high school.
The PPS pass system can be used from the beginning of the school year throughout the following summer.
Through a partnership between METRO and Baxter Academy, students requiring transportation may request information about a TouchPass or mobile app directly from Baxter Academy. Baxter Academy passes expire at the end of each school year. Students are asked to check with the school for additional information and guidelines.
Regular youth fare, for ages 18 and younger, is $1 for regular local service. METRO BREEZ express service between Portland, Yarmouth, Freeport, and Brunswick is $2 each way. Please note that two children, five and under, ride free with each passenger paying fare. To obtain a Youth TouchPass or mobile app, please complete a Reduced Fare Application for each student and submit it to Metro by mail, email, or in person, with proof of the child's DOB. The method of payment will expire on the first of the month following the applicant's 19th birthday.
